the badge receive endorsement!
June 12, 2000 -- The band the badge have been tapped by Fostex, USA for an endorsement deal that will provide the band with a state-of-the-art home studio and ensure that a new demo of the band's song "To Whom It May Concern" -- slated for their forthcoming album -- will be included worldwide on versions of the new Fostex VF-08 hard disk recorder.
I've used Fostex products for years," said the badge's leader Jeff Slate of the agreement. I'm excited about this because Fostex is leading the way with affordable products that have professional capabilities."
More specifically, Slate is referring to the new Fostex VF-16, which the badge will record its next album on.
The VF-16 is a fully integrated digital system at a very affordable price. Designed for project studios and home recording, the VF-16's mixer section utilizes many of the features and functions found on the popular Fostex VM-200. It offers 32-bit processing and mixing, as well as superior digital effects. Each of the 16 input channels has 3-band EQ with parametric mids, compressor, effects send and 2 aux sends, which are pre/post selectable. It can be totally controlled via MIDI, while Auto indication and self-illuminating switches allow you to see the configuration of the entire mixer at a glance. It also provides for 99 mix scene memory and stereo A.S.P. digital effects. It allows up to 3 hours of uncompressed, 16-bit, 44.1kHz recording per gigabyte, and uses a standard E-IDE 3.5 hard drive for storage which can be upgraded for larger capacity. S/PDIF and ADAT I/Os are supported, as well as external SCSI for backup. The VF-16 also imports and exports WAV file format.
I was amazed that the badge's debut CD "...digital retro..." was recorded on 4 tracks, and on minidisc, no less," said Fostex's Phil Celia, head of Artist Relations in the US. "It showed how anything is possible in the digital format, but specifically how a new artist can make a quality product on a tight budget, as long as they put the time and effort into getting the songs and their sound right. I think the badge are ground-breaking in that sense, and I'm glad that Fostex can help take them to the next level.
